A permanent collection of my favourite photos of all time in three themes:

This is where I started, when I was given a Soviet Zenith-B SLR for my 16th birthday (1971). It had no electronic components and no need for a battery, but a decent f/2 lens and a ground glass focusing screen that encouraged careful framing. In 1973 I upgraded to a Minolta SRT-303 with an f/1.4 50mm lens. I developed most of my photos at this stage – mostly Perutz colour slides.

Gradually, I developed a passion for travelling the world and took more photos on my trips and fewer close to home. In 1988 I went autofocus with a Nikon F-801 and a fantastic trio of f/2.8 lenses (24mm, 35-70mm and 180mm). I have stayed with Nikon since.

From about 2016 my main photographic interest has been wildlife, especially birds, although my love of travel continues. Most of the wildlife portfolio was taken with a Nikon D500 and 200-500mm f/5.6 zoom.
